One of the most exciting things to do when you find out you’re pregnant is telling your husband he’s going to be a dad.
When I found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t wait to tell my husband. I was in disbelief that my test was actually positive, so like any other sane person I took two more. After all three were showing two lines or plus signs, I immediately ran downstairs to share the news with my husband and show him the tests. He confirmed that I wasn’t just seeing things (because three positive tests STILL wasn’t enough for me to believe it had finally happened!) and we celebrated! If you have more self-control than I do and can keep the excitement to yourself for a little while, there are tons of cute and fun ideas to share the news with your husband.

1. Use your pregnancy test
An easy way to surprise your husband is by leaving your pregnancy test out on the bathroom counter and waiting to see his reaction. Another option is to gift wrap it and give it to him as a surprise present. This works even better if it’s close to a birthday/anniversary/holiday.
Another fun idea involving your test is to propose to your husband.
2. Bun in the oven
A classic way to break the news is by putting a bun in the oven and asking your husband to look in the oven. You could even put a cute note on it that says “Bun in the oven – setting timer for [due date].”
3. Give him a dad book
If this is your first baby, announce your pregnancy by giving him a book that helps him figure out the ins and outs of being a father.

4. Give him a card
A simple, cute way to tell your husband you’re pregnant is by giving him a card with a handwritten note telling him how excited you are to become parents together.

5. Coffee mug
Swap out his usual coffee mug with one of these. Pour him a cup of coffee and see how long it takes him to realize what it says.

6. Onesie gift
If it’s close to his birthday or Christmas, wrap up a onesie and watch him be surprised as he opens the present. A plus to gifting a onesie is that you’ll be able to use it when the baby is born!
7. Picture frame gift
Another gift that is sure to get a lot of use is a picture frame like one of these. He can frame your first ultrasound and switch the pictures as your baby grows.
8. Give him a T-shirt
Whose husband doesn’t like T-shirts? There are lots of cute and funny options to gift your husband a t-shirt that reveals your announcement.

9. Involve your pet
If your pet is anything like mine, they’re a big part of your family. It’s such a cute idea to involve them in the big reveal. You can get a bandana for your pet and let them wander around the house until your husband realizes what’s going on.
10. Let your kids announce it
If you have other kids, get them a shirt that says they are going to be a big brother or big sister. Wait and watch as your husband processes the good news.
11. Announce it with dessert
Buy or make your husband’s favorite dessert and put a note on it saying “Eat up! I don’t want to be the only one with a big belly!”
12. Set an extra place at the dinner table
When you set the table for dinner, add an extra place setting. Make it even more obvious by using a bottle as the cup.
13. Make a special dinner
Reveal your pregnancy by preparing a special dinner. This idea comes from an episode of Full House where Becky tried to tell Jesse she’s pregnant by making baby themed food like baby shrimp, baby corn, and baby back ribs. But, Jesse doesn’t take the hint. It’s such a cute idea to include baby sized foods and mini desserts, but you might have to point it out to make sure he understands the exciting news!
14. Scratch off tickets
If your husband is into scratch off lottery tickets, these are prefect. And what better prize is there than finding out you’re having a baby?

15. Wine or beer labels
Switch the label on his favorite bottle of wine or beer and give it to him saying you have exciting news to celebrate. I’m sure he won’t be too disappointed that he has to drink the whole thing since you can’t have any!
